Archer Aviation has unveiled plans to develop three air taxi networks across Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston, aiming to improve connectivity between major airports, business centers and key regional destinations throughout the Texas Triangle. Home to more than 20 million residents, the Texas Triangle encompasses some of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. Rapid population growth has intensified traffic congestion across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin, resulting in substantial economic costs through lost time, reduced productivity and increased infrastructure pressures.

To address these challenges, Archer intends to deploy its all-electric Midnight aircraft as part of a regional air mobility network designed to bypass ground traffic. The company expects the service to transform typical 60- to 90-minute car journeys between airports, business districts and major destinations into flights lasting approximately 10 to 20 minutes, providing travelers with a faster and more efficient transportation alternative.

Adam Goldstein, Founder and CEO of Archer Aviation commented: “Texas is setting the bar for America’s leadership in the next generation of aviation. Our planned networks will make the benefits of electric air taxis real for Texans — trading hours in traffic for minutes in the air, while connecting the biggest airports, business districts and sporting hubs in ways that America’s largest megaregion needs to grow.”

Dallas-Fort Worth

Archer’s proposed Dallas-Fort Worth air taxi network would connect key regional airports, including Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas Love Field, Addison Airport, Arlington Municipal Airport, Fort Worth Meacham International Airport and Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport. The network would also provide links to major commercial centers such as Frisco Station, the 242-acre mixed-use development surrounding The Star, headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys, which features premium office space, residential communities, hotels and a rapidly expanding health and wellness district.

Houston

In Houston, where traffic congestion ranks among the most challenging in the United States, Archer plans to connect George Bush Intercontinental Airport, William P. Hobby Airport and Sugar Land Regional Airport with downtown locations such as the Thompson Hotel Helipad, as well as Galveston. The network is designed to transform what is often more than an hour-long drive between Houston and the Gulf Coast into a brief flight.

Commenting on the initiative, Senator Ted Cruz stated that next-generation aviation is advancing rapidly and described Archer as an example of American innovation. He noted that the planned networks could help Texans save significant travel time while reinforcing U.S. leadership in advanced aviation technologies.

Austin

Archer’s Austin network is set to link Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Austin Executive Airport with the Formula 1 Circuit Helipad at the Circuit of The Americas, dramatically reducing travel times for race attendees and visitors traveling to major events.

The announcement follows the successful Northern California segment of Archer’s “No Roads” flight tour, during which the company conducted multiple demonstration flights over San Francisco Bay. Over the course of three days, Archer visited seven cities across the Bay Area, showcasing the advantages of all-electric air mobility, including low noise levels, zero operating emissions and the ability to bypass congested roadways.

According to the company, these demonstrations highlighted Midnight’s ability to operate within complex urban airspace environments similar to those found in Houston, Dallas and Austin. Archer plans to continue the tour with flights in Los Angeles ahead of the LA28 Olympic Games and in preparation for future operations in Texas under the White House’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. The company will also showcase its Midnight aircraft at the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix from October 22-25, offering Texans an opportunity to experience the technology firsthand.

Meanwhile, America’s Consortium for Electric Skyways, established by Archer, BETA Technologies and Macquarie Capital, is working with the Texas Department of Transportation and local stakeholders to develop interoperable charging infrastructure across the state. The initiative aims to support up to 250 electric aviation sites nationwide, including airports, FBOs and other strategic locations, laying the groundwork for future air taxi operations throughout the Texas Triangle.

Archer’s long-term vision is to redefine regional and urban transportation through its Midnight eVTOL aircraft, replacing lengthy road journeys with quiet, all-electric flights. Designed specifically for urban air mobility missions, Midnight is engineered to perform rapid back-to-back operations while producing zero operating emissions and significantly reducing travel times compared with conventional ground transportation.
