Cirrus Aircraft is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Collier Trophy-winning Vision Jet at NBAA-BACE 2026, marking a decade of innovation that has continuously advanced the world’s first single-engine personal jet equipped with the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS). Over the years, the aircraft has evolved into a highly versatile platform serving business aviation, special missions, supplemental lift operations, and Part 135 charter services.
Since receiving FAA type certification in 2016, the Vision Jet has progressed through three generations of innovation, broadening its operational capabilities while maintaining the performance, safety, and ease of operation that characterize the Cirrus ownership experience. Today, the Vision Jet supports a growing worldwide community of owners and operators through a fully integrated ecosystem that includes advanced aircraft technologies, flight training, service and support, connectivity solutions, pre-owned aircraft offerings through Cirrus NEXT, and comprehensive fleet management services.
Zean Nielsen, Chief Executive Officer of Cirrus commented: “Over the last decade, the Vision Jet has grown into an entirely new category of business jet and changed what’s possible for regional travel. Continuous innovation in the aircraft, paired with our investment in training, service, connectivity, and support, has built a complete ecosystem that lets customers do more with their Vision Jet. Today, we’re building on that foundation with an aircraft and ownership experience that helps customers accomplish even more, whether they’re flying for business or connecting people and communities.”
A decade of Vision Jet innovation
Following its FAA certification in 2016, the Vision Jet introduced a unique concept in jet aviation by combining a spacious cabin, the efficiency of a single-engine aircraft, advanced avionics, and industry-leading safety technologies, including the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS®) and Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland. The aircraft was developed with a strong focus on both pilot usability and passenger comfort.
Over the last ten years, Cirrus has continuously enhanced the Vision Jet platform. The G2 Vision Jet brought improvements in performance, range, and cabin comfort, while the G2+ Vision Jet added expanded connectivity, enhanced takeoff capabilities, and Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland. The latest G3 Vision Jet, capable of cruising at 317 KTAS and operating up to FL310, introduced additional features such as ATC Datalink, Spectra™ LED Wingtip Lights, and a new 6+1 seating configuration within a cabin designed to comfortably accommodate six adults.
Having recently surpassed 800 deliveries worldwide, the Vision Jet remains the best-selling jet in general aviation and continues to expand its presence beyond personal transportation, serving an increasingly diverse range of operational missions.
The mission-ready jet
As the Vision Jet fleet has continued to grow, so too have the ways operators are putting the aircraft to work.
Today, Vision Jets are used for business transportation, supplemental lift, special mission operations, and Part 135 charter services, providing organizations with a distinctive solution for missions where efficiency, flexibility, and airport accessibility are critical.
One notable application is organ transportation. Indiana Donor Network, the federally designated organ procurement organization serving Indiana, operates TxJet, the nation’s first nonprofit aviation program dedicated to organ transplantation. Through the use of the Vision Jet, TxJet transports donor organs and surgical recovery teams swiftly between donor and transplant hospitals across the region.
“Every organ we recover is a gift from a donor and their family, and time is the one thing we can never get back,” said Steven Johnson, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer of Indiana Donor Network. “The Vision Jet provides TxJet with a fast and efficient means of transporting organs and recovery teams between hospitals throughout the region while enabling access to community airports closer to the areas we serve. That operational flexibility helps us honor every donation and deliver lifesaving organs to patients awaiting transplantation.”
The increasing adoption of the Vision Jet for professional operations highlights the platform’s versatility, demonstrating its ability to complement existing fleets while offering operators an efficient solution for shorter-range missions and enhanced access to a wider network of airports.
Jet ownership and operator ecosystem
Beyond the aircraft itself, Cirrus continues to broaden the range of services and technologies available to help Vision Jet owners and professional operators enhance aircraft utilization, streamline operations, and effectively manage their fleets.
The company offers factory-direct service and support, including Vision Jet type rating training at the Vision Center in Knoxville. Recurrent type-rating courses and instrument proficiency checks are also available at Cirrus Scottsdale. In addition, the global Cirrus Authorized Network of Training and Maintenance Centers provides comprehensive support to owners around the world. Cirrus is also advancing the automation of aircraft maintenance and fleet management through its JetStream and Cirrus IQ™ platforms.
Cirrus IQ™ delivers connected aircraft data and operational insights that help owners and operators simplify aircraft management while maintaining greater visibility into aircraft status and performance. JetStream, meanwhile, offers a comprehensive ownership program designed to streamline scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, training, and other operational requirements. Together, these solutions form a fully integrated ecosystem around the Vision Jet, extending the Cirrus ownership experience well beyond the aircraft itself.
